On Comfort Objects

As a kid, my comfort objects were a herd of mismatched stuffed animals, threadbare and gnawed on from years of love. The stuffed animals are gone now, but I still have comfort objects. They're books. And I wrote about it over at the insatiable booksluts.

Check it out and tell me what you think! This is the first of my regular book-comic posts over there.

  1. I must agree with my books being my security blanket. But as a child I had both stuffed animals and books surrounding me keeping me company... so it was a very messy and crowded bedroom for me - if not a very crowded bed! Can you imagine me sick in bed with a streaming cold with my teddy bear (my 2nd one in 6 years) and books all over my bed that I wanted to read but I was too sick to read a single word? Yep, that was me as a sick 8 year old! Now, when I'm sick, I have a teddy bear in bed with me (yes, I still have one in case I'm reading horror and I need somebody nearby to squeeze the hell out of that I won't hurt) and three books by my bed I want to read and a book on my chest with my glasses on my face as I sleep lightly with my reading light on my side of the room on at 2am.... yep. I still try to read when I'm sick! It's a bad habit, but it's something I do. :)

    1. Both at once is a double whammy. I find I'm always fighting for space on the bed with all of my wife's papers and books.
