My current tallest stack? Hmmmmmmm... about 3/4 of a metre tall... however, it kind of leans in on itself from the outside like a mountain. I call it Mt Everest TBR because it's the area of my office where these are the books I want to read; and they are at placed where I can see them instantly from the door - so they have the most likelihood of being read first in a year.
Also, I have the growing pile of books - off to the left - where I stack up the books I read each year. So far, I've read 14 books; however 4 of those books have been left unfinished.
Sounds like a pretty good stack right there. The best stack is one that you don't want to get too close to because if it fell over, it might seriously injure you.
Actually.... I nearly had a bookcase do that to me in Wales when I was 23. Yeah, yeah, sounds funny. But really for a person who loves books to the point the idea of a bookcase falling on them would be a funny thing to read out - as the cause of their death - at their funeral service, I didn't think it was a funny thing have happen to me. So, when I'm stacking my books, I make sure my books don't fall - or look like their going to. :)
We've got to be pretty careful with that here in California, too, with the earthquakes. It's an art, stacking things precariously without increasing the risk of your own mortality.
It's funny you ask this question so jovially when you hate my piles of every kind! But I could totally go for some of that bookish furniture. Also, finish that d$%# Perdido Street already.
Too tall! I follow IB also so at a point sometime today I will be seeing your post! I already saw a few positive Tweets about it this AM!
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued by these mysterious tweets everyone keeps talking about. Cool that they're positive.

ReplyDeletePiles of books are the least aggravating piles. Piles of papers are pretty much at the top.
DeleteNice comic. I showed my piles at HEP. I was bored :)
